A new grave - free of charge- can be obtained by any Sofia resident or foreign citizen who has died in Sofia.
For this purpose, the new cemetery in the area of "Bankya"- "Poleto" was opened in the summer of 2016 to accommodate the growing needs of the expanding capital.
At first glance it seems far, but in fact the area is almost immediately after the sign of Bankya on the old road from Sofia, just a few kilometers from the ring road. You can get there by well-built roads and road junctions. In the new cemetery itself there is a Ritual Hall, it is plotted, the lanes are prepared for asphalting and there is a strict traffic regime. For those wishing to have an autopsy of their deceased loved ones, it is necessary to have it done either at the grave or at the neighborhood church before transport to the cemetery.
Of course, until the expiry of the sanitary period / 8 years / the relatives of the first buried in the grave can build a permanent grave marker / tombstone/ and pay the "perpetual fee", which is currently 570 BGN. In this way the heirs can use the place as a "family" one.
The burial places in Malashevtsi Cemetery Park and Bakurena Fabrika Cemetery Park are exhausted, as well as the rest of the capital's cemeteries.
